Self-Confidence Is the Best Thing You Can Wear
Neither new clothes nor make-up can make you look as good as being self-confident. No ’tween girl fashion will get you where you want to be if you don’t feel good about You.
Lack self-confidence and you'll wreck all the trendy accessories for girls you begged your mom for and thought you had to have. But with self-confidence, you’ll look great in last year's hand-me-downs.
Why does it work like this?
Because confidence in your true self lets your soul shine. Your confidence will let people see You, rather than what you own or the ’tween girl fashion you’re wearing.
Hey, preteen girls! Here are some real ways to boost your confidence now —
- Do something that physically exerts you (even if you hate gym and don’t do sports). It can be as easy as going for a walk. Or putting on your favorite music and dancing! Or run, swim, do yoga, or Wii, or shoot baskets.
- Moving shakes off the blues and the blahs and gets your brain working! It can get rid of self-doubt, minimize your worries, and help you be yourself.
- (But don’t go with a friend just to hang and check out the guys! Get real and do what you’ve set out to do!)
- Learn something outside of school. Take a class. Join an interest group. Or ask someone with experience in your interest area if she or he will teach you. It may lead to your future career!
- Pay attention to what you naturally love to do and do more of it. This, too, may be a key to your career or a lifelong passion.
- Starting young at something you love is one of the best things you ever will do.
- Get on top of the school work you’ve been putting off. Few things take away a preteen girl’s self-confidence like unmet obligations and a fear of failure hanging over her head.
