A New Symbol of Infinte Strength in Girls Gifts, Plus Cool Gifts for Mom

Posted on May 17th, 2012 by in Basic Fashion, Cool Gifts, Life & Culture, News

We Give Girl Fashion a Whole New Mash-up

Deadlines.

Nothing helps me start and complete a project so well as a hard date by which to finish.

Yesterday was such a date: May 16, day of the World Trade Center Denver Gala, A World of Fashion. Thank you to the WTC for graciously inviting Pretty Brainy to exhibit and provide girls gifts for the silent auction.

Thanks to the event deadline, our team at Pretty Brainy started, finished and introduces the following —

We Give Girl Fashion a New Symbol in Girls GiftsThe icon to complete our brand identity, the Infinite Dragonfly. Visually and symbolically, the design mashes up infinity symbol and dragonfly.

In my mind’s eye, the symbol is inseparable from the faces of the girls and women for whom I design Pretty Brainy apparel and girls gifts. I see their infinite worth, strength, courage, intelligence.

Thanks to the May 16 deadline, we also introduce five pieces from our forthcoming line for women —

The “Infinity T-shirt Dress.” Made of vintage jersey, it’s elegant, one-piece dressing, especially in warm weather.

“Strength beyond Any Number Flowy Tank.” Color: Tangerine. Design color: French Roast. Design Message: “Strength Beyond Any Number.” Placement: on the back over the heart and lungs, as in breath, as in inspiration.

Pair the Flowy Tank with the “Be the Change” Yoga Pant. Boot cut, low rise and versatile.

“Black to Basics” Leggings. Seamless, ankle length and a complement to the “Infinity T-shirt Dress.” For this piece, our latest under-the-hem message begins, “Your true worth is infinite.”

“Essential Camisole.” Designed to be worn with the Flowy Tank or solo. With built-in shelf, this is a basic that stays in place and moves with a woman as she does whatever movements bring her back to center.

Cool Gifts for Mom: New Flowy Tank from Pretty BrainyIf you were at last night’s gala, you were the first to see these additions to our line-up of woman and girl empowerment apparel and gifts.

The inspiration for each piece individually, as well as a line, is the No-fuss Woman. When it comes to getting dressed, she wants two key things: to be confident about how she looks and to invest minimal time getting there.

She is active and smart. Given the genuine priorities in her life, she wants to make looking together a no-brainer.

Besides classic lines and a reliance on the latest color trends (including Tangerine, one of Pantone’s top hues of the year), each piece incorporates the Infinite Dragonfly.

  • Thank you to Ann Cioffa and Heidi Weinberg of Cioffa Design Studio for uttering the simple statement that brought the Infinite Dragonfly from the backwaters of my brain. “You need an icon,” they said, and in an instant I knew what our symbol would be.
  • Thank you to graphic artist Cheryl Matsumoto, who took my sketch and rendered the icon in its complete form.
  • Thank you to Christa Gammon of FiveSeed who typed as I talked and tweeted the news of the new icon from the gala.
  • Thank you to Diane Matt, CAE, executive director and CEO of the Women in Engineering ProActive Network. Diane immediately saw the principle of Momentum represented at the top of the design in the dragonfly’s head.

I am infinitely grateful.

And I’m looking toward the next deadline.

Heidi Olinger is the founder and CEO of Pretty Brainy, Inc. She designs girl fashion and girls gifts with the goal of inspiring smart girls of every age to pursue their goals and live their best lives, no matter the challenge. She lives in Fort Collins, CO, where Pretty Brainy is located.
